Prevent & British Values

The new Education Inspection Framework September 2019 states that Training Providers must prepare learners / students for life in modern Britain by:

• Equipping learners / students to be responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to society.

• Developing a learners / students understanding of fundamental British Values.

• Developing a learners / students understanding and appreciation of diversity.

• Celebrating what we have in common and promoting respect for the different protected characteristics as defined in law.

Prevent Duty and Promoting British Values Policy

We are committed to supporting the UK Government’s counter-terrorism strategy, CONTEST. Part of this is the Prevent strand, which seeks to stop people from being radicalised or supporting terrorism, within a local, domestic and international context. It is a commitment that our partners, including learners / students and employers, should share.

If you have any concerns in relation to any of the above please contact your Progression & Development Coach.

To provide you with an introduction to the topics of Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values, we would like you to complete some online learning modules.

Side by Side online learning

Side by Side is a free online resource about radicalisation, safeguarding and British values provided by the Education and Training Foundation (ETF). The training consists of two introductory drama videos and four modules. The first 3 modules should take around 30 minutes each to complete and the British Values module will take approximately 45 minutes.

At the end of each module there is a knowledge check consisting of 10 questions. To pass each module you will need to achieve a minimum of 7/10 correct answers. When you have successfully completed all of the modules you need to go to the ‘Certificate’ link and download a copy of your certificate and provide your Progression & Development Coach with a copy.
